Preventing the Spread

Invasive plants can easily be transported into new areas by vehicles, footwear, and with some species, clothing. We take this prevention of spread very seriously, for the benefit of both the resource as well as our clients.

Many off-site hours are required to ensure equipment cleanliness both inside and out. Pressure washing and vacuuming the interiors of on and off road equipment is performed between different jobsites to help prevent the transmission of invasive species. Under some circumstances additional disinfection is performed to alleviate the possibility of being a vector for other non-plant organisms.

A boot washing station is also utilized daily for these reasons.

Clothing and PPE is also “picked clean” as may be required for those seeds with clinging ability.

Attention is given to traffic patterns and access options to help prevent the spread of propagules within a site to the extent possible.

Our dedication to these practices is absolute even if it results in the delay in mobilization or lost income producing “field time”.
